Note: The arms are of Sandilands. This service probably made for a younger son of the 7th baron, Lord Torpichen, either Patrick, born in 1708, perished on an East Indiaman; Alexander, a major in the 21st Regiement, who was at Dettingen and Fontency and died in 1776; or Robert, an officer in the Scottish Brigade of the Dutch Service, who married Grisel, daughter of Sir Thomas Kikpatrick of Closeburn Bt and died in 1791, leaving a son who succeeded as the 10th Lord Torphichen.
