the allegorical figure of a seated woman with an open book on her lap leaning against the gilt bronze clock case, the white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic number chapters and signed 'DENIERE/ Fr DE BRONZES/ A PARIS, with two winding holes, raised on a rectangular plinth base cast with Vitruvian scrolls and rosettes, on acanthus cast feet, the movement stamped 1178 DENIERE A PARIS and CAILLEAUX
