Description
with Glasgow type basket hilt of flattened bars stamped on the underside of the wrist guard with a 'G' (rubbed), fish skin grip rebound with a triple twist of brass wire and with brass Turk's heads, the double edged German blade with three short fullers for a third of the length and struck with three crescent heads

The initial on the quillion is possibly that of Robert Gemmill armourer in Glasgow. He was appointed Kings Armourer in 1718.
