the superstructure with a brass gallery over a central mirrored open recess flanked by side compartments mounted with oval porcelain plaques of French beauties, the canted corners mounted with gilt metal figures of Shakespeare and Milton; the lower section with three frieze drawers, the central drawer fitted with a ratcheted writing slope, raised on fluted and gilt metal mounted legs united by a concave shelf and undertier with mirror back panel, on toupie feet
