Notes:
Stephen Wiens is recorded by the Tate Gallery as a portrait painter and sculptor, a grandson of the German poet Ferdinand Freiligrath. He was born in London, but educated partly in Germany. Having studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 1890, he exhibited at the R.A. from 1893. Although the Tate holds a small bronze of his of 1906, his works appear to come on the market only rarely.
