Description
the glazed top with moulded edge and corrugated frieze above an arched and glazed front between chamfered uprights enclosing a silvered roman dial signed James McCabe, Royal Exchange, London 3017, with a strike/silent dial to the arch, the twin fusee movement striking the hours on a coiled gong, the backplate similarly engraved, the sides with imbricated brass frets and recessed brass handles, on bun feet

Footnote
James McCabe moved to London from Belfast in the latter part of the 18th century and is recorded at Royal Exchange in 1786. Nothwithstanding his successful career as a clock maker, McCabe also was commissioned to make a watch for Horatio Nelson.
