Description
the back action lock engraved with scrolling foliage and signed D.EGG, the sighted octagonal twist barrel engraved LONDON on the top flat and stamped with the Irish registration marks EC 508, double silver lines at the false breech, with captive swivel steel ramrod, plain silver escutcheon and barrel bolt escutcheons, engraved foliate trigger guard and barrel tang, full walnut stock with fine chequered butt and sprung steel blued belt hook

Note: Durs Egg started in business in London 1772. He was one of the foremost gunmakers of the 18th and 19th centuries. He died in 1831, at which time his shop was at No.1 Pall Mall.
