the burr figured and quarter-veneered top with egg and dart moulded edge and burr veneered frieze with moulded lip above a spreading hexagonal pillar with central gaitered banding and ogee moulded collar below, on a triform platform base with rounded terminals and gadrooned bun feet with reccessed castors, the base stamped GILLOWS on the upper tenon

Note: the quality of Gillows construction is evident in the 'invisble' wavy join to the decorative veneers and the bold execution of the edge and feet mouldings. The moulded detail on the central pillar is another typical Gillows detail, often encountered on the foldover and sofa tables made by this firm.
