the twin train movement with anchor escapement striking the hours on a bell, the swan neck pediment above a roman enamel dial with subsidiary seconds and calendar dials, signed J. & G. Leithhead, Galashiels, the arch and spandrels painted with emblems of Britannia's strength as a military power, the rosewood crossbanded frieze above a scallop-carved trunk door, between quadrant corners, on panelled base with shaped apron and bracket feet
