Description
the plain flat stepped lock signed Ketland & Co with friction roller, the two stage swamped barrel octagonal at the breech with engraved band of rouletting signed Ketland & Co London on the top flat with Birmingham proof marks and silver spider foresight, engraved barrel tang, French trigger guard with triple pineapple finial, engraved steel butt cap and octagonal escutcheon engraved with a family crest and motto for Major General George Duncan Robertson of Struan ,walnut full stock with flat sided plain butt with carved shell behind the barrel tang steel ramrod pipes and horn tipped ramrod

Note: Major-general George Duncan Robertson of Struan, C.B., 16th Clan Chief passed upwards of thirty years in active service, and received the Cross of the Imperial Austrian order of Leopold. He died in June 1842 and was succeeded by his son, George Duncan Robertson, born 26th July 1816.
