fitted with verge escapement and twin-fusee repeat movement striking on a steel bell, the back-plate ornately engraved with scrolling foliage, and bearing inscription 'Thos. Johnson/ London', the arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring enclosing date aperture and makers inscription and with silvered strike/silent dial to the arch, the case with caddy top and brass carrying handle, the glazed sides above a moulded base raised on brass bracket feet
