Footnote
Note; Benjamin Martin (1704-1782) invented the drum microscope in 1738. He preferred to call his instrument ‘the pocket reflecting microscope’, a prosaic but accurate description, however the term drum was later introduced and has stayed with this type of microscope ever since.
