one with oval smoky quartz intaglio bearing the arms of Doddington Egerton (1725-1799), grandson of the 3rd Earl of Bridgewater, granted on his marriage to Catherine Gerrard (Doddington Egerton's death was announced in the Gentleman's Magazine of 1799 'a gentleman of his Majesty's most honourable privy-chamber ... he came down stairs in the morning in apparent good health and more than usual spirits, and died almost instantaneously'), with pierced scroll mount, 32mm high; one with oval cornelian intaglio bearing arms representing the marriage of Scroop (Dodington's younger brother) Egerton's daughter Elizabeth to William Hayter in 1768, open work mount, 28mm high; and another similar bearing the Egerton family arms, 36mm high (3)
