the basket work domed lid with white and brown spotted gun dog recumbent, across and game bag and rifle, with leafy fronds, the base with entwined rustic twig handles extending to holly leaves and berries, the basket work sides with opposed oval panels, relief moulded with leaping hare and pheasant in flight, on four bold paw feet, impressed factory and number marks 964,12 and impressed cypher mark for 1874
