The Numidian crane was represented (quite differently) by Edwards as the Demoiselle of Numidia. George Edwards Natural History of Uncommon Birds, vol. III (1751), no. 134. Dixon did not use any of the illustrations from vol. III of Edwards work.
The Crowned African Crane was differently represented by Edwards. George Edwards Natural History of Uncommon Birds, vol. IV (1752), no. 192.
