Another version may be found in the collection of Lord Montagu of Beaulieu (signed and dated 1786), other versions were sold by Sotheby & Co. Drawings from the Collection of Sir Bruce Ingham, Part IV, 17th February 1965, lot 623 and with H Blairman & Son, London [n.d.]
cf. Eleazar Albin, A Natural History of Birds, vol. III (1738), no. LXXXIV (the plate dated 1735). Albin presents the bird quite differently. According to the author the bird was in the collection of Sir Thomas Lowther. Exotic birds in the Lowther collection proved to be the source of other zoological studies made by Hayes.
