Footnote
Note: These tables use the 'truss' leg commonly identified with William Trotter, and a Grecian moulding to the edge of the rim. The form used here bears close comparison with that used on the circular centre table in the Lower Signet Library, Edinburgh, as well as on the tables at Paxton House. In particular the pair of tables made for George Home's Jasper tops have directly comparable trusses set at angles at the front, with pilaster supports at the rear. Although these have carved rosettes rather than roundels, the low specimen table at Paxton has roundels similar to those used here.
