with marks for Edinburgh 1729, maker James Taitt, assay master Archibald Ure, of bullet form, on slightly domed circular foot, with ball finial to the domed cover, straight spout and heavy scroll handle, with diaper and fringed chevron engraved border where the cover meets the body and decorative scroll hinge, initialled EC in script beneath the spout

Note:
The spherical or 'bullet' form of this teapot, is regarded as a traditionally Scottish design. The restrained narrow band of engraved decoration around the shoulder is also characteristic of Scottish hollow ware of this period.
