Bianchini-Férier was founded in Lyon, France, in 1888, beginning a century of success after receiving the Silver Medal at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1889. This achievement led to offices opening in Paris, London, Brussels, and, finally, New York in 1909. In 1912, Bianchini-Férier signed a contract with the talented artist Raoul Dufy, who had begun designing textiles for couturier Paul Poiret in 1911. Until 1930, Dufy created lively woven and printed fabrics in bright colours for the company, many purchased by leading couturiers. From the 1960s, Bianchini-Férier also produced designs for Givenchy, Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior and Yves Saint Laurent.
