The panel is dominated by the central figure, her skirt exaggerated in its fullness to visually echo the tree from which she is picking flowers. The drapery and its interaction with trailing foliage are made a feature of in a manner familiar from Glasgow School embroideries by designers including Ann Macbeth. A frieze of alternating squares, rectangles and stylised roses borders the design, elements familiar from the work of other Glasgow School artists including Macbeth's mentor Jessie Newbery.
