Note: Stan Dodds was a talented designer-maker who trained in the Kilburn workshop of Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson from 1942 when he was 14. He continued to work at the workshops at Kilburn until his retirement in 1994, however, he also set up his own workshop at his home in Osgodby where he produced fine carvings under his signature, at first a rabbit, changing in the late 1960s to a woodpecker, as in the current example.
