Note: Although the designer of this textile is unknown, the pattern is closely similar to a design at the Alhambra Palace, Granada, promoted in the above publication above by the architect and designer Owen Jones (1809-1874) (see Lot 43). The design may have been copied from this publication or even adapted by Jones and sold to a French merchant or manufacturer. The Victoria & Albert Museum hold a piece of ‘Alhabraesque’ silk fabric made by Warner & Sons in 1855 (T.132-1972).
