Footnote
Literature: Elizabeth Mary Watt was born in Dundee and studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1906-1917. She is well known for her playful depictions of flowers, fairies & elves as a favoured subject matter in her delicately executed watercolours, and hand-painted porcelain boxes, trays, tea-ware etc. Examples of her work are held by Glasgow Museums. This watercolour shows Watt's characteristic theme of floral fantasy with exuberant lively Fairies & Elves frolicking amidst harebells and cowslips - a true Garden of Delight. A similar work, Mischievous Fairies, was sold: The Neil Wilson Collection, Christie's London, 4th Sept, 2014, lot 10
