Note: Mary Watts took her inspiration for this casket from a drawing in Brindley & Weatherley's 'Ancient Sepulchral Monuments' of 1887. The design is based on the Sarcophagus of Archbishop Theodorus in the Church of Saint Apollinare in Classe, Ravenna. A smaller version of this casket is held at the Watts Galley, Compton.
