Literature: University of Glasgow 'Mackintosh Architecture' project at mackintosh-architecture.gla.ac.uk
Provenance: 1, Dunira Street, Comrie.
Note: In 1903 designs for a shop, flat and offices at 1, Dunira Street were commissioned from Honeyman, Keppie and Mackintosh by a Peter Macpherson, who had bought the site after a fire. By late July 1903 Macpherson's solicitor, John Mitchell, was in touch with Mackintosh about rebuilding the premises and a surviving series of letters from Mitchell to Mackintosh document the project.
The flat was purchased and renovated by the Landmark Trust in 1985 and the shop in 1986. The current lot, probably originally from a smaller bedroom, was removed at an earlier date.
