Footnote
Note: Amberg worked for the Royal Porcelain Factory (their mark, KPM, is printed on the base of all pieces along with the symbol of a sceptre) in Berlin at the turn of the twentieth century. Between 1904 and 1905, he designed the Wedding Procession, which is considered to be one of the most significant examples of the German Art Nouveau style. Created to commemorate the marriage of Crown Prince Wilhelm of Prussia and Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, the collection of figurines were originally created in silver and then in porcelain from 1908. The figurines represent people from numerous different nations, with this example portraying an Indian woman with a peacock, a symbol of royalty and protection.
