Footnote
Note: While Dufrène is mostly known for his Art Deco works from the 1920s and 1930s, his early career was linked to the Art Nouveau movement as he employed his own logical and organised approach to natural forms that were popular motifs at the turn of the twentieth century. Dufrène taught at various art schools in Paris and also was the director of the Maîtrise workshop that was launched at the Galleries Lafayette, for which he designed an exhibit at the 1925 International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts.
