Note: Hugh Birkett learned much of his craft working with Oliver Morel, the furniture maker, teacher and farmer, at his farm in Herefordshire in 1948. Morel had been a pupil of Edward Barnsley, who in turn had trained with his father Sidney Barnsley and Ernest Gimson at Sapperton. He moved to Morton-in-Marsh in 1966, where this clock was made.
