Note: Jessie King began producing work for the Foulis Press around 1907 and 'The Grey City of the North' was published in 1910, showing twenty-four topographical plates of Old Edinburgh. King commented on this work "It seems a pity that the charm of the outsides of these houses cannot be retained with the interiors remodelled to satisfy the demands of modern ideas. Perhaps it is only the hand of the artist that can save for the furture this beauty in danger of being demolished."
