Note: Francis Smith is thought to have quoted for two tables of this design for the Smoking Room of the Willow Tearooms in September 1903. The form and construction is similar to a larger single table commissioned for the Billiards Room at the same time (Billcliffe fig. 1903.37), and which is now in the collection of Glasgow School of Art. Although none of these tables appear in contemporary photographs, Billcliffe believes their more robust construction gives them an affinity with the other furniture made for the Billiards Room at the same time.
