Note: The architect and designer James Salmon (1873 - 1924) was a friend and direct contemporary of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. In common with other Glasgow designers at the time, Salmon's work emulates Mackintosh's, particularly with reference to his best known buildings in Glasgow, amongst them 142 St. Vincent Street (the "Hatrack"), and Lion Chambers in Hope Street. It is likely this influence extended to his design work as this wardrobe demonstrates, particularly with regard to the decorative hinges and the individuality of its' design.
