Note: Voysey designed a similar cabinet to the present example for the Pre-Raphaelite artist E.R. Hughes for the dining room of his house at 7 Lodge Place, London in 1898. In the following year detailed drawings of the cabinet appeared in The Furnisher magazine. The present example has minor stylistic and size discrepancies from the original Hughes commission and may have been made as a result of the publication of the original design.
