Note: This mug is decorated with a religious text and hand-painted motifs influenced by Earlshall Castle in Fife. Earlshall Castle was the home of R. W. R. Mackenzie, a successful merchant. He held fairs in aid of local charities at the castle, and the Fife Pottery produced a series of Wemyss designs for sale at these fairs. A similar mug is held in the collections of the Royal Museum of Scotland, catalogue no. 000-100-103-124-C
