Note: In 1979-80 Denis Conti was commissioned to design the lighting for the Warwick Arts Trust, London for which 16 standard lamps were produced, of which six are offered here. A memorable feature of the Warwick Arts Trust in the 1980's was its poetry and chamber music recitals by a range of artists from recent graduates to Vanessa Redgrave, Andreas Schiff and Alfred Brendel all of them lit by these Conti lamps, which were made for the first performance in the summer of 1980.
The design was inspired by a trip to New York in the late 1970s and possibly pays some homage to Mies van der Rohe's Seagrams building.
