Description
for John Broadwood & Sons, the case with hinged top above two hinged doors each carved with opposed strapwork panels, the silvered hinges and handle plates decorated with flowering plants, the whole enclosing a keyboard of seven octaves flanked by steel and copper sconces, the music stand carved with sheets of music and the inscription 'God Save the King', the straight strung iron frame numbered 99192, raised on square supports with panelled back board

Note; According to the records at Broadwood Pianos Ltd. this piano was finished at the Stour Road workshops in London on October 15th 1904.
The piano was described as 'A Manxman Upright Pianoforte to a design by Mr CR Ashbee with double-hinged doors, unpolished'
A note in the porters daybook states 'Doors will be carved by Mrs Creswick. Pianoforte for Mrs Creswick, Norton Green, near Sheffield'
The company notes that this piano was a special order and that unusually the carving on the case was executed by the buyer.
