the slatted back inlaid with stylised plant motifs above shaped open arms and upholstered panel seat on square, chequer inlaid and tapering legs linked by stretchers

Note: This chair demonstrates characteristics of the furniture produced by Walton for Sidney Leetham at Elm Bank, York in 1898.
The pieces produced are generally inlaid with bold geometric pattern, as in this example, a style popularised and revived by George Jack at Morris & Co.
