With Spring finally in the air, Lyon &amp; Turnbull were pleased to welcome you to its April 2025 iteration of Contemporary Art - an exciting auction led by a private collection of rare , early works by polymath John Byrne.It was a great pleasure to present one the finest group of early works by John Byrne to have been seen on the market (lots 81-90). The ten ‘Patrick’ era pieces all come from the same private collection - that of the descendants of Byrne’s local priest, Father Tom Jamieson of Renfrew Parish. Supporting Byrne at this early stage of his career, Jamieson amassed extraordinary examples of Byrne’s work – from large scale oils and incredibly rare imagery associated with the UK’s biggest musical acts of the 1960s, to intimate sketches of his children. The collection attracted international interest to reach over £90,000 and 100% selling rate. &nbsp;Otehr highlights included: a selection of works by the artistic Morrocco family, Alberto, Leon and Jack; through <a href="/artists/eduardo-paolozzi">Paolozzi</a> and his work in collage, print and sculpture; to a fine grouping of works by Eardley’s friend and protégée, Lil Neilson.
