Shearer Armstrong was a painter, printmaker and illuminator. Born in London, Armstrong studied at the Slade School of Fine Art (1912–14), in Karlsruhe, Germany, as well as briefly with Stanhope Forbes in Newlyn when she moved to Cornwall in 1921. Armstrong showed with R.A., R.S.A. and Penwith Society of Arts of which she was a founder member. She also exhibited with the St Ives Society of Arts and Taurus Artists as a member, as well as more generally around the UK and abroad. Armstrong had solo shows at Chiltern Gallery and Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh. She had a studio in St Ives for many years, living in Carbis Bay.
