Note:
Andy Scott is probably best known for creating The Kelpies, in Falkirk, though many Glasgow-Edinburgh commuters will also be familiar with his sculpture by the M8 motorway, Heavy Horse.' These two local landmarks and prominent works within his oeuvre demonstrate his love of animals, and respect, in particular, for the heavy graft of the working horses that were once instrumental to Scotland's heavy industry.
In the offered work, Scott, a Glasgow School of Art graduate who has earned commissions for sites across the globe, turns his attention to rendering a more traditionally glamourous and elegant animal, the panther. He utilises his distinctive approach to manipulating galvanised steel on a more domestic scale, while maintaining the presence and structural transparency that he is known for.
