the flattened ovoid body inlaid on each side with a white jade circular plaque finely carved in relief with a caparisoned elephant surrounded by Bajixiang, the Eight Treasures, flanked by a pair of chilong dragons clambering up from between two qilin beasts to reach two elephant heads set at the shoulders, the noses of the elephants linked to the jade inset handle suspending the vase from the finial of the wood stand, the filigree silver body inset with coral, turquoise and malachite
