Note: Scarce. 'Young was the last of the natural philosophers who could know all that was to be known. He was the perfector of the wave theory of light, he expounded the mechanism of vision, stated the laws of blood circulation, introduced the modern conceptions of 'energy' and 'work done'' evolved a sound theory of tides, and helped decipher the hieroglyphics of the Rosette Stone' (PMM 259 note).
