Note: Fenwick A.8a TO CHECK
A scarce Orwell title, around 1000 copies were printed in 1940 and went out of print before the end of the year. However, all the volumes were not sold, some were destroyed during an air raid. No American edition has been published. These essays, as one critic later remarked, are “small masterpieces in a limited field”.
No other inscribed copies appear in the auction records from 1975 onwards (ABPC).
