Footnote
Note: The first published account of Cook's second voyage. Johann Reinhold Forster and his son Johann Georg Adam Forster accompanied Cook as naturalists. It was originally intended that the elder Forster should write the official record of the voyage, but because of their dispute with the Admiralty the offer was withdrawn and the Forsters issued their own book which contains a complete account of the researches into the natural history of the Pacific.
