Provenance: Sent to Captain Andrew Pitkeathly between 1967 and 1970. Captain Pitkeathly joined the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in 1946. By 1952 the accomplished piper was appointed Pipe Major of the 1st Battalion and after several tours of duty across the world he became Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant in 1964. In 1966 he was appointed Piper to the Queen, a position he held until 1973 when he was commissioned and posted to the Band Company at Dreghorn Barracks, Edinburgh.
