Note: Thomas Nelson MacLean trained with Carrier-Belleuse in France and Henry Hugh Armstead in England, and was much influenced by the painters Albert Moore and Lawrence Alma Tadema. These contrasting influences created a highly personal style which blended elements of neo-classicism with the New Sculpture.
