Description
Saunders physiognomie and chiromancie, metoposcopies, the symmetrical proportions and signal moles of the body. London: N. Brook, 1671, 4to, frontispiece, engraved plate and full-page engravings in the text, woodcuts in the text, 4 advertisement leaves and "Peroratio" leaf at end, fine period style half calf with marbled sides, frontispiece and title supplied in very good facsimile on period paper, neat repairs to two preliminary leaves, occasional dampstains to some outer margins

Richard Saunders (1613-1687?), a native of Warwickshire, studied hermeneutics about 1647 and practised astrology and chiromancy during the golden age of the pseudo-sciences in England. He was a close friend of the antiquary Elias Ashmole and the astrologer William Lilly who contributes a commendatory note to this work and there are several laudatory poems prefacing the text.
