Footnote
Note: Issued over a period of twenty five years and in very small numbers being limited to those who were able to attend the Club dinners, the Garlands are amongst the rarest of the Club's productions. Complete sets are therefore of even greater rarity.
Scott took a leading role in establishing the Club and was its founding president, presiding until his death. Scott composed a song for its first dinner, 9 March 1823, which was issued as the first of the Garlands. He was also involved in the publication of the joint issue of two Garlands as Two Bannatyne garlands from Abbotsford. All but the last in the series were original works and in most cases were issued in no more than 40 copies. The other works in the collection are also scarce.
