Robert Boyle dedicated the first work to his sister the Countess of Warwick .In the dedication he refers to having shown her sheet by sheet the work in progress. Bolye's sister lived at Leigh Priory near Felsted in Essex and became a resort for pious puritain divines of that county and bishops and divines from London.
Provenance: With an inscription apparently reading "Robt: Boyle To ye Count[es]s of Warw[ick]". It ssems likely that the hand is late 17th/early 18th century. The second flyleaf is inscribed "Castillyana Beckwith her Booke" in apparently 18th century hand
