Note: An important source for the history of the period and in particular for Montrose's military campaigns. The author accompanied Montrose during the campaign of the Royalist Forces as Montrose's chaplain and afterwards shared his exile after the battle of Philiphaugh. It also preserves much anectodal and biographical material. First published in Amsterdam in the previous year, it was later translated into English with commentaries.
