First edition, 4to, later green half calf by Higginbotham & Co. of Madras, spine gilt-stamped 'IV Pioneers' (probably the 4th Madras Pioneers, British Indian army regiment), mezzotint portrait frontispiece of Tipu Sultan, 5 folding plates (aquatint panorama of Seringapatam, engraved order of battle, and 3 engraved plans), 2 folding letterpress tables, spine worn, joints cracked, front joint very tender, browning, frontispiece with small mark to top margin, title-page with blue ink-staining and ink-stamp of Thacker & Co Ltd, Bombay [ESTC T128718]
